After creating both print and physical installation experiences for SDG data, we faced a new challenge: how to make this playful visual approach to data visualization accessible to anyone, anywhere, regardless of their location or device size.

We developed a responsive web application with two main playful components: the Data Explorer and the Data Quiz challenge. Over 2,500 diagrams for more than 150 countries offer an interactive experience with intuitive navigation, country comparison, mobile-optimised visualisations, quiz function and CSV data connection.

The web application enables universal access to the development data of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and thus contributes to the democratisation of knowledge, as the remarkably high daily access rate on our server shows. This also shows that visually translated quantitative data, previously hidden in the UN database, can be communicated as a visualization. With this application, our SDG visualisation ecosystem grew alongside the publication and a room installation. This project was honored at the Swiss Viz Award in the category - Runnerup - and is on the shortlist for the Information is Beautiful Award.
