The Challenge
Daylight influences everything from human well-being to architectural design and environmental systems. The challenge was to make daylight’s journey visible and accessible while fostering collaboration among researchers and professionals. The Daylight Academy sought to create an interactive platform that uses knowledge visualization to educate, connect experts, and highlight daylight’s critical role.
The Outcome
The Daylight Matters microsite presents an engaging, interactive journey of light, illustrating its impact at various stages from the sun to cities. Complementing this, an expert platform connects leading scientists and practitioners in daylight research. Through visual storytelling, knowledge visualization, and networking opportunities.
The Impact
This knowledge hub raises awareness of daylight’s impact by merging education, knowledge visualization, and expert insights. Users explore light’s journey while researchers connect across disciplines. The project fosters collaboration, inspires new approaches to daylight research, and demonstrates how visualization makes complex topics tangible and accessible.
The Process
We expanded the branding of Daylight Matters for Daylight Awareness Week in Berlin in November 2025. A poster summarises scientific content, while the roll-up banner brings the website directly into the exhibition space. A consistent information design system works across media and scales and forms the basis for further applications.
